So the pace of life is such that it appears there will be more sporadic postings from here on in. Unfortunately updating the blog has been relegated to somewhere below 'feeding everyone' 'getting to work on time' and 'writing paper on advances in treatment of Hodgkin lymphoma'. I'm sure I'll get there but on that note I'd like to send a big 'RESPECT' to all those mothers with more than one child - you are all currently my heroes.
No - its not what you think - its just my little homage to Molly - who was sitting at the back door watching the entire time whilst I made this pie. I think perhaps she thought I might give her some, rather than model her as the pie cover girl.
They don't do this on Masterchef! Now who wants the back end?
Just how I thought pictures of pets made out of pastry would taste....: Culinary genius.

So we all have to thank Vernessa for her wonderful idea of themed food get togethers. Me and my friends from school (you all know who you are - respect!) have started cooking food from faraway lands each time we get together. This was put forward as a fun way to spend a meal, and also to result in some amusing failings - but so far the standard has been deliciously high! I'm now the proud owner of the entire pasta making set for my shiny red enamel kitchen helper (Thanks Santa George!). So here is a peak at the first attempt at ravioli making - electric style!
Turkey, pine-nut, ricotta and parmesan ravioli
with red wine sauce.
Thought I might include a couple of quick restaurant reviews in case anyone is looking for somewhere to nosh in their time off around Christmas.

Thanks to Rhianna and her recent overseas jaunt I have now experienced one of the most bizarre food combinations, and I'm afraid to say it but Bacon Mints; FAIL. Bacon and Mint - together at last?

Shopping with Charles recently I found that the germans are indeed up to something - mixing main course and dessert in new ways not thought previously possible! Whilst not chocolaty enough to enjoy on their own I think they still have potential, perhaps with butterscotch/chocolate sauce? Suggestions please! It worries me they need to point out that these are a dessert item...
